Whether you want to sail with the family or as a single-handed sailor, this Athena 34 offers enough space and yet is handy enough to manage on your own even in narrow harbours. All lines are diverted to the cockpit and an autopilot assists the skipper. Even during the daily "regattas" during overtaking manoeuvres, you have a good chance of annoying the "big ones". With a yardstick of 99, she is quite respectable.
Everything you need
Down below she is simply cosy! You sleep in the front of the boat or, if necessary, on the extendable saloon benches and, of course, in the spacious dog bunk when underway. An electric cool box at the end of the saloon provides cool drinks and the 2 flame paraffin cooker provides hot meals. There is plenty of storage space everywhere. A diesel heater is also on board for the cooler days.
Rig, mast and sail
About 12 years ago the rig including mast and sail was renewed. The engine was also replaced in 2006 by Finch and Bliese overhauled and runs perfectly! The saildrive sleeve is 4 years old and the battery bank (AGM) was renewed in 2017. The underwater hull has just (07/19) been stripped down to the gelcoat, sealed with a new osmosis protection and a new antifouling coat applied. The cool box is also only 3 years old.
From first possession
This Athena 34 is a very nice example. This Swedish shipyard build was produced in the Poseidon shipyard and is identical in construction to the Finngulf 34.
She stands high and dry in the indoor storage in Bad Schwartau. When you buy the boat, it will be launched for you, rigged and you will be provided with a proper briefing on the boat's special features. You would be the second owner!
