blue water yacht

For worldwide travel

It is designed for worldwide travel. Very robust and equipped with all amenities. Manageable even for the small crew. There are eight fixed berths in total, with two sleeping forward in the bow and six beds spread throughout the rest of the ship. Some of these single berths are small caves with sliding doors, ideal for children to have their own kingdom. Hot water heating, two steering positions, a large cockpit and the cosy interior make the ship a home from home.

Hull material

Ferrocement - frowned upon for no reason!

The "Artoma" is built from ferrocement. A material first used in 1912 by the German engineer Johannes Lescher to build a sailing ship in Germany. In the 1970s and '80s many, especially self-builders, imitated it, often bunglingly. Actually a great and easy to repair boat building material, these self-builds have led to an unjustified bad reputation. Cool in summer, warm in winter. Would you rather have a plastic yacht? Who likes to live in a plastic house? Here are two interesting links to reports on this boatbuilding material: Link1 / Link2
