The gaff cutter "Ellen" makes the heart beat faster. A real traditional sailer, which was donated every year a shipyard stay and is accordingly in a beautiful condition.
History
History of the "Ellen
The gaff cutter was built in 1938 in East Prussia. The hull is oak on oak. Until 1973, the "Ellen" was registered as a fishing cutter, although in the post-war years it was also used as a minesweeper in the interim. The previous owner restored the cutter extensively starting in 1979. The current owner took over the vessel in 1993 and rebuilt it to its current state. Always with the principle of replacing old material with equivalent new, but traditional.

Rig
Traditionally held
The "Ellen" has a sail area of 130 square meters with a hull length of 14 meters and a beam of 5 meters. The sails consist of foresails, mainsail and broad jib on a yard. All traditionally made of brown cloth. The shrouds are tensioned in the traditional way with maidens.
Below deck
Pure coziness
Below deck there is a total of 7 berths: The owner's cabin with double berth and e-toilet in the forecastle, 2 slip cabins in the saloon and the rest aft, where a wet cell with urinal can be found. The heart of the "Ellen" is the cozy salon with spacious galley, comfortable seating area and a Refleks stove that keeps the ship cozy warm.

The "Ellen" has always been well maintained, the owner has not saved. The last shipyard visit, for example, where planks were replaced, caulked, antifouling, etc., cost 27,000 euros. What else there is to know: Due to arson about 5 years ago, the forecastle had to be completely restored, costing 70,000 euros. An expert opinion on the damage was made for insurance purposes. There is nothing left of the fire damage today. At the moment, the only defect is that the skylights can leak during heavy rain. Otherwise, the "Ellen" is ready to go and is looking forward to new owners.
