This mid-cockpit yacht from Sweden is a very safe and seaworthy cruising yacht. Designed for long passages on all oceans with pleasant sea movements, plenty of storage space and a perfect underwater hull.

Perfect movements at sea
I myself am a fan of these underwater hulls with their straight running, protected rudder, lack of keel bolts and deep bilge. The bilge houses the water tank, you don't have to worry about the missing keel bolts and the rudder is well protected by the skeg. With a ballast ratio of 42.10 % plus a possibly full water tank, you have a very good righting moment. Despite the long keel, the height on the wind is good and an aft exit is still possible. The biggest advantage of this keel shape is probably the pleasant sea behaviour. No comparison with modern short keels and their surfboard-like underwater hulls. When things get tight in small harbours, this Najad 390 has a retrofitted bow thruster from Side-Power (2000).

Protected
Centre cockpit
The sheltered cockpit is also a good place to have breakfast in harbours and to move around freely in the unobstructed fore and aft areas. The small benches aft at the railing would probably be my favourite place to sit while the autopilot does its work. Down below, the centre cockpit has created a lot of space, and the most striking thing is the amount of stowage. Six fixed berths, a bathroom with shower facilities (more in the cockpit), a very spacious galley with an additional salt water pump to save fresh water, a forward and aft cabin with an enormous amount of storage space and the cosy saloon with fold-away table are completely sufficient for the big round.
Runs reliably
Volvo Penta
The dual-circuit cooled Volvo Penta is a bit older, but it does its job very reliably. The owner, an engineer who worked at the TÜV for a long time, has always maintained the Volvo reliably. Four cylinders, starts well, does not smoke and still has a few years ahead of it.

Why the low price? The Najad 390 is ready for use, but there is also work to be done. Due to former leaks on the chocks (which have been repaired), the wood behind the benches in the saloon has suffered and should be renewed. The teak deck is very thick and dries evenly, but some joints and a few teak plugs should be renewed. The installed diesel heater should also be replaced. Last but not least, the shaft bearing of the engine will soon have to be replaced (2500,- Euro from a specialist). Otherwise, the ship makes a good impression. If you have an eye on the Najad 390 - I would be happy to show you the cruising boat. When you buy the boat, we will bring it to the water, rig it and the rest of the season can come.
