This pointed frame is one of 50 built at Shipmakers in Hamburg. Three of these Polar 34s have a modified sail plan with significantly improved sailing characteristics. This ship is one of them. The light wind and tacking characteristics are simply incredible for the underwater hull. Anyone looking for a single-handed blue water yacht should take a closer look here.

For long tours
This ship is designed and equipped for long tours. Single-handed sailors are also well served here. The hydraulic wheel steering can be controlled with one finger and can be switched to tiller steering if required. An electric autopilot and the large Wind Pilot Pacific by Peter Förthmann support the crew. A powerful bow thruster is not missing here and ensures stress-free parking manoeuvres in the marinas. The split sail plan of this Colin Archer type allows handling with smaller sails and is fast at 6 knots despite its robust 10 t live weight.

Below deck
Cosy
Down in the boat it is bright and cosy. Everything is kept simple and robust. The water is still pumped with a foot pump, cooking and baking is done with the classic paraffin cooker of Taylor´s. The toilet can also be operated manually. With a headroom of up to 1.90 m in the saloon and bathroom, the ship is well suited for taller people. The forward berth is 2 m long and an incredible 2.35 m wide. The saloon berths are 2 m long and equipped with lee boards. A ship to feel good on.
Beautiful condition
There has been continuous investment
In 2002, the Polar 34 received an extensive refit (including osmosis prevention). The diesel engine, which was installed in 1993, was overhauled in 2012 and runs wonderfully. New purchases have not been missed where necessary. Last year, for example, the upholstery was replaced, the interior lighting was converted to LEDs, a new radio was installed, the refrigeration compressor was replaced and a new heating system was installed.

Of course, there is always something to do. A radio would still have to be retrofitted, but the cables are already in place. The sloop light also needs to be connected. The radar unit and the wind sensor in the mast are without function. Although the engine is running wonderfully, the cylinder cover seems to be
to be a little leaking. All in all a good, well-kept condition!
