The Westerly Regatta 29 is a further development of the Merlin 28 with an incredible amount of space below deck. Due to the enormous width of over 3 m, the designer could Ed Dubois a layout that is in no way inferior to a 10 m ship.
Easy handling
Great for beginners
The boat is ideal for the beginner or even the small family. All lines are diverted into the cockpit, the winches are self-tailing, there are centre cleats for easy harbour manoeuvres, an autopilot for the single-handed sailor and, thanks to the fold-up tiller, enough space for nice evenings in the cockpit. The engine starts perfectly, does not smoke and is sufficiently dimensioned.
PLACE!
Like a 10m ship
Downstairs in the ship it is cosy. You feel at home right away. Four people have enough space below deck. A forward berth for the children, an owner's cabin aft, a spacious bathroom with pump toilet and retrofitted holding tank (never used), a navigation area with seating, a well-dimensioned galley (larger cooker would probably have to be retrofitted) and a saloon with plenty of storage space offer this 8.80 m long ship.
Good
Beautiful condition
There is always something to do, of course, as it is not a new ship. But it is ready for the season. As you can see from the pictures, the deck surfaces could be painted with anti-slip paint, the existing diesel heating has not been running for a long time and should be checked, just like the deck shower. In 2014 the teak in the cockpit was renewed, the side panels in the aft cabin and the wet room were renewed and in 2017 the owner gave the Westerly a new sprayhood. As I said, not new but really good.
