The Shearwater 39 is a shipyard build from South Africa. Designed by Dudley Dix, she combines classic lines with a seaworthy, modern underwater hull. Designed for the big trip!
Keep it simple
For the big trip
It is optimised for the big ride. Little technology, few frills. Lines for the main on the mast, mast baskets for a secure hold, cutter rigged with furling genoa and cutter on stays. A powerful autopilot supports the skipper. Yanmar engine, starts great and doesn't smoke! A protected cockpit, a bowsprit for comfortable anchoring and a solidly rigged mast (welded and not riveted!), that's what makes a classic cruising yacht.

Lots of wood, yet light
Try cosiness
Down below it is very cosy with lots of storage space and convenient access to the engine. It is located amidships under the galley and is quickly accessible from three sides. Cooking and baking is done on a Force 10 (3 years old), The Cooker for ships! For cool drinks and food there is a large refrigerator and a large freezer compartment. The seagoing double sink has a fresh and salt water tap.
Great state of maintenance
You can go!
The Shearwater has just been given a new antifouling coat (last osmosis protection in 2010) and anode replacement, and the wooden parts are also currently being repainted by a shipyard (Epifanes). But otherwise we can start right away! She now floats between Lübeck and Travemünde.
